Odette’s birth announcement card
Frederique envisaged a botanical inspired bespoke birth announcement card to celebrate the birth of her first born. Her daughter was due on her own birthday and Frederique’s mother always told the story of how the snowdrops were in full bloom when she was born. This was a super starting point for Odette’s card and beautiful too: snowdrops are one of the first flowers of the year in the Netherlands and symbolise hope.
We added another seasonal favourite: The Lily of the Valley, delicate branches with white flowers aptly meaning ‘new beginnings’. Heather gives the floral wreath the needed pop of colour. This beautiful shrub grows in abundance nearby their home during Summer and I blended my paints to match the colours of the flowers with the gorgeous Cole & Son wallpaper in Odette’s nursery.
As for the fauna, both sheep and blue tits were discussed and sketched and eventually we decided on a brown baby rabbit instead for both colour, layout and personal reasons. It also matched some of the rabbit decor in her beautiful nursery. There is also a cute little ladybug, a wink to Frederique’s passion for Dutch 17th century still-life paintings.
This stationery suite included a single double printed card on luxurious 300 gram Dutch paper with torn edges and matching envelope, address stickers and personalised stamps.
